When Will Recession End?

This past weekend I attended a Women’s Festival. I didn’t really know what to expect, but somehow I knew I had to attend.

Sure enough, I connected with some wonderful women whose passions, experiences and drive are synchronous with mine. In fact, I connected over social entrepreneurship ideas that I had more or less “put to bed.” This blog is an example.

When I first created this website, my dream was to help people experiencing the harsh effect of recession, those laid off, losing their homes, their health and self-respect.

I feel strongly that, as a nation, we are responsible for each other, just as Native American tribes lived in concert with nature, just as our founding fathers disagreed with one another but came together to create the Constitution designed to protect all and give voice to all, just as the pilgrims found safety in numbers and cared for each other’s children and families when people were sick or needed help raising a barn.

I believe that as a nation we must come together once again, without the difficulties of politics, but as individuals ready to help one another. Unfortunately, it seems people, as a whole, have learned not to trust one another and, instead, have learned to focus only on one’s self to survive. It seems that greed and fear have undermined our abilities to care for one another.

Of all industries, the one that should be the most helpful was hit hard. The nonprofit community lost endowment value through investments. Donors have less to give, and foundation grant funds were hit hard by the market downturn and are not able to give as much.

These events make it more critical for us to set aside out differences, as our founding fathers did, as the Native American tribes did, as the pilgrims and settlers did, to help one another not only to survive but maintain the basic rights to food, housing, health and self-respect.

It is time for the wealthy, who have used their talents and creativity to gather abundance, to share a bit more, not less. Of course the ultra wealthy (those with a net worth of $25 million or more) have lost investment and net worth value, but most are not at risk of losing everything. If 5% or 10% of all personal and corporate net wealth over $25 million were given to those losing their homes and jobs, our nation would be recovering well.

It is time for all of us to release fear of annihilation of our own security to help each other. By helping each other, we are actually giving to ourselves by reducing the fear that is currently driving our society and economy.

It should not require an earthquake or tsunami to motivate giving. As a nation, we must care for one another. It is what made us “great” from the beginning.

The recession affect on the many is ultimately felt by all. Equally, all must participate in helping those most deeply impacted here on our own soil.

This blog is officially re-activated. The intent is to influence motivation to help one another, to share social entrepreneurship examples of how people can help themselves while helping others, to offer motivation strategies for those caught unemployed as to how to reignite their passions for their own betterment and for the betterment of others.

The question must not be “when will recession end,” but “what can I do to prosper and help others.” Surviving recession is a task for all of us to accomplish together by giving, sharing, connecting and engaging each other in positive methods for revival of our souls, our creative minds and our society.

You will be learning more about how you can help as more channels open and energy flows through the connections made at this Women’s Conference and connections that are made here on this blog.
